I know that everyone was looking forward to our annual luncheon on March 29th, however I am sorry to advise you that it is CANCELLED. New York State is forbidding gatherings of 50 or more people and restaurants have been asked to closed as of 8 PM tonight (except for take out). The restaurant has agreed to use our deposit at a future date. Be assured we will reschedule the annual luncheon once authorities advise that we can gather safely.
I strongly recommend that hosts cancel weekends, but we are not closing the lodge at this time. Our members may want a place to escape to. I have not yet heard from Harriman State Park. If they put any restrictions on our camp or ask us to close, we will follow their instructions, and we will keep you advised.
*PLEASE DO NOT VISIT CAMP IF YOU ARE FEELING SICK OR COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO THE VIRUS*!
The CDC recommends the best way to avoid illness is to avoid person to person contact. Any hosted weekends that are not canceled should be limited to 10 participants as advised by the White House. Participants should bring and prepare their own food. It is also recommended that person to person contact should occur in well ventilated spaces as much as possible (outdoors!).
Although we are already observing winter protocols at camp (permits required during the week or during non-hosted weekends), I am asking that we continue this protocol until further notice. This will allow us to monitor how many are expected at camp and insure that we keep the number at 10 or less.
If you arrive at camp and other people are there, please keep your distance and wash your hands after any contact with things like doorknobs, light switches, counter tops, etc.

Everyone needs to use their own best judgement but you are better to err on the side or caution. These are temporary restrictions and as long as we are all conscientious and follow social distancing we will be back to enjoying one another’s company at camp and at home in the near future.
As always, if anyone has any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
